New opinions about the use of hormone replacement therapy give promise for women suffering from the symptoms of menopause.
While menopause is a natural life event, it often brings many undesirable symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings. Caused by hormonal imbalances, these symptoms are experienced differently by each person, but most women will agree they can be disruptive, frustrating, and affect quality of life. The good news is that there are options in the search for menopause relief.
You might recall that a few years back the use of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) to treat menopause symptoms came under scrutiny. Health studies such as the WHI were released linking HRT use to an increased risk of breast cancer and heart disease in women.
